- Rest - at least one rest period per day.
- Follow-up - schedule at 4-6 weeks; to report any signs of fever, chilling, increased lochia, and depressed behaviors.
- Hygiene - clean the perineal area from front to back, center to sides. No douching for 1 month or until there is postpartum check-up.
- Work - avoid heavy lifting for at least 3 weeks.
- Coitus - can be done if episiotomy is healed already and lochia returns to alba ( about 3 weeks).
- Contraception - begins after delivery or when coitus is initiated.
