1. Validation: observed during the first trimester.
  • Ambivalent, shock or denial may be experienced at the time of knowing occurrence of pregnancy.
  • Introvert manifestation is usual with weight gain and other outward signs of pregnancy.
2. Fetal Embodiment: Second trimester.
  • Fetus is viewed as part of self.
  • Role adjustment - time of emotional maturity.
  • Gains " inner" strength with the condition.
3. Fetal Distinction: Common when pregnancy reached fifth lunar month.
  • Fetus is viewed as separate to herself.
  • Quickening encourages this feeling.
  • Woman day dreaming on her role as mother and the future of the baby.
4. Role Transition: Third trimester.
  • Woman becomes irritable and wanted to end the pregnancy.
  • With concrete plans about herself and the baby.
