What is the main Pathology?
  • Presence of Senile plaques that destroys neurons leading to decreased acetylcholline.
What are the common Signs and Symptoms?
  1. Aphasia - inability to talk
  2. Agnosia - inability to recognize objects.
  3. Apraxia - inability to perform ADL.
  4. Amnesia/Memory loss/Mnemonic disturbance
What are the 3 PHASES?
  1. Forgetfulness phase - difficulty of remembering appointments
  2. Advance phase - difficulty of remembering past events but not recent events
  3. Terminal phase - death occurs in 1 year
