  • It is a disorder characterized by persistent pattern of inattention, hyperactive and impulsive behavior that occurs before the age of 7.
  • More common in boys.

What are the common etiological factors?
  • Neurologic impairment
  • Pre-natal trauma
  • Early malnutrition
  • Frontal lobe - hypoperfusion
  • Use of drugs by the mother during pregnancy
What are the SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS?
  1. Difficulty remaining sitted
  2. Easily distracted by extraneous stimuli
  3. Fidgeting
  4. Interrupts/intrudes on others
  5. Child exhibits hyperactivity.
  6. Indulges in destructive behavior
  7. Talks excessively
